Girasol is a descriptive name for opalescent Quartz, named from a type of opal with a similar appearance. Also referred to as white rose quartz.
Approximately 500 million years ago the quartz formed in masses containing small sillimanite crystals which create the appearance of a glow emanating from the stone. The origin is Madagascar, once part of the African continent.
